This song is, at its core, about the vulnerability of feeling new love, but not wanting to say it, in case the other person isn’t in love back. After getting divorced, I felt like damaged goods. I knew my heart would bloom again, but had no idea when. The phrase “life is long” had been popping up in my life around the time I wrote this, and I just love that phrase so much because it counteracts the popular belief that life is short, and that when life disappoints us, it’s all over. It’s never too late to believe in ourselves, to believe in love again. We are never too old to make our dreams come true. Everything is cyclical…we fall in love, we get our hearts colossally broken, and then we fall in love again. Thank goodness.
