This song I started writing in 2016 and put it down until 2021. When my wife left me, I was driven to the very spiritual experience of simultaneously finding deep gratitude and sadness in the everyday beauty of life. I found myself living alone after 11 years of close partnership and playing a lot of piano, while hot tears fell in a seemingly endless stream down my cheeks and onto the keys. This song is about finding both pleasure and pain in something as simple and ephemeral as say, church bells ringing or a seagull crying over the ocean.
